Youth STEM 2030 Named Finalist in Scottish Impact Awards for Diversity & Inclusion Leadership
We’re equally humbled and delighted to share that Youth STEM 2030 has been named one of six Finalists in the Diversity & Inclusion Leadership category of the 2025 Scottish Impact Awards.
Created to recognise the trailblazers who embed purpose into action and are creating lasting impact across society, the environment, and the workplace, the Scottish Impact Awards honour and celebrate leadership across Scotland that drives real change through impactful work in inclusion, sustainability, ethical leadership, and community transformation.
Delivered by The Herald, Newsquest Events, and GenAnalytics, each of the Finalists have demonstrated leadership across categories ranging from community impact to sustainable innovation, with Youth STEM 2030 one of six Finalists for the Diversity & Inclusion Leadership Award, sponsored by Diageo.
The award celebrates organisations that “foster inclusive workplaces, champion diversity, and address social inequalities in Scotland”, and our nomination came from our extensive work to ensure equity and inclusion is not just an afterthought, but is deeply embedded within everything we do, from our programme design, to our recruitment and selection processes, to our communications to our procurement. Equity and inclusion is at the core of our work to meaningfully embed diverse young peoples voices in other organisations and our overall mission of empowering marginalised youth as STEM changemakers.
On being named a Finalist in the 2025 Scottish Impact Awards, Youth STEM 2030 Founder & CEO Mhairi McCann said:
“We’re thrilled to be named Finalists in the 2025 Scottish Impact Awards, in the Leadership in Diversity and Inclusion category! Creating an equitable and inclusive world is at the core of who we are and every decision we make as an organisation, whether that’s how we design our programmes that empower marginalised youth as STEM changemakers, to our recruitment practices, to our services which meaningfully embed diverse young peoples voices in STEM, sustainability and impact-driven organisations.”
We’re grateful and humbled to see our work recognised at this national level, but we do it not for recognition, but because being intentionally inclusive and embedding equity in everything we do is the right thing to do and is critical to creating a just and sustainable future for everyone. For us, this recognition is not a signal to be complacent or think that we’ve done enough, but rather to keep pushing us to do better, because there is absolutely more for everyone, including us, to do, to dismantle systemic inequalities and create a fairer society.
We hope that this platform will enable other organisations to learn from our practice, use our consultancy and training services to meaningfully embed diverse young peoples voices in their decision-making, and share their resources to empower a generation of STEM changemakers for a just and sustainable future.
